The Conference, Mainstreaming Human Security: The Asian Contribution, is organized by a network of International Development Studies programs and development institutions in Asia. The initiative was started by the International Development Studies program, part of the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

The aim of the organizers is to provide an Asian debate on the theoretical aspects of human security, while exploring the practical implications of the concept of human security in terms of issues/problems and policy/program implementation from an Asian regional perspective, with a particular focus on the Greater Mekong Subregion.
